Where is the leech found?
The leech is found in the terrestrial biome. Basically forests and rain forests. To narrow it down even more the leech is found in habitats such as marshes, lakes, and ponds. Usually around shallow, slow-moving fresh water but they can also sometimes be found in oceans and such. Leeches will usually be around other leeches although interaction between the animals will rarely occur. The only interaction that is usually seen between Leeches is with the mother and the children (there can be up to 300) and I will discuss more about that below. The Leeches Trophic Level is Tertiary Consumer which means that they are top predators in their environment and feed on secondary consumers such as fish.
Interaction With Other Species
Intraspecific- Leeches barely interact with each other. The only time interactions usually occur with the mother and the children in which she protects them until they are old enough to live on their own or between two leeches that are mating.
Interspecific- Leeches don't really make friendships with other species, moreover anything that has blood they will want to attack. Their main food includes fish, worms, snails, and insects
