What is Natural Selection?
Natural Selection is a theory developed by Charles Darwin. The theory basically states how an animal in a species that has the best suited adaptations to survive will pass on his genes and create a new breed that is stronger then the rest. Thus those who are least adapted will die off and eventually the whole species will completely change. This is due to environmental factors that led towards the creation of a new adaptation necessary for survival.
What does Natural Selection Have to do With the Leech?
Every animal goes through natural selection. This is because animals are never perfectly suited for an environment. Although there isn't definite evidence of how the leech has changed through time. It can be assumed that the Leech might've adapted towards having stronger teeth so as to dig into an animals skin easier and suck its blood. Or maybe the Leech has a bigger crop so he can hold more blood and transfer more nutrients out of it. The point is to show that Natural Selection basically means that "the strongest survive".
